World Trade Week NYC History

World Trade Week has been celebrated in New York City for many years. Every year, the international trade community in NYC offers events on topics such as:

The non-profit international trade community is made up of a host of organizations ranging from local state and federal government agencies to local and bi-lateral chambers of commerce to NYC's educational institutions and associations.

World Trade Week NYC Mission Statement

The mission of World Trade Week NYC is to build public awareness about the importance of international trade to our region and to educate the community about the direct and indirect benefits of international trade for our local economy. World Trade Week NYC is a program of the New York District Export Council and brings together area non-profit, government and academic institutions with the private business sector to create a series of events on World Trade-related topics annually during the week beginning the third Sunday in May.

World Trade Week 2007 Partner Organizations

World Trade Week NYC Partner Organizations are the non-profit organizations that create events during World Trade Week NYC, whose representatives participate in the World Trade Week NYC planning subcommittees, who provide speakers and event space for seminars, and who actively promote World Trade Week NYC through both online and offline marketing. Organizations eligible to participate in World Trade Week NYC as partners include government entities, non-profit organizations, associations, chambers of commerce and educational institutions. Additionally, Partner organizations participate in the following ways:

  • Post the official World Trade Week NYC logo and website link on website;
  • Promote World Trade Week NYC activities to constituents;
  • Commit to the World Trade Week NYC mission insofar as is merited by organizational goals;
  • Promote World Trade Week NYC activities at their events in the weeks leading up to World Trade Week NYC;
  • Display the World Trade Week NYC Sponsors' logos at their events*;
  • Provide World Trade Week NYC Sponsors access to their events (complimentary if possible)*; and
  • Allow World Trade Week NYC Sponsors to distribute literature at their events*.

A Friend of World Trade Week NYC agrees to provide support in the following ways:
